The Screenwriting Campus comes to UTC

The European Screenwriters’ City organised a “Screenwriting Campus” day at UTC on April 24, 2025. On this occasion, five professional screenwriters led writing workshops for students. This was the fourth edition of the Screenwriting Campus, whose patron is none other than Louise Courvoisier, winner of the 2025 César Award for Best First Film for Vingt Dieux.

The highlight of the day was an incredible masterclass lecture given by director and screenwriter Louise Courvoisier, who shared her career journey and the story behind the writing of her film Vingt Dieux, which has just received the César Award for Best First Film. In addition, screenwriters Caroline Torelli, Alpha Diallo, Pierre-Yves Denonfoux and Leslie Menahem, from the worlds of animation, documentary, cinema, series, video games and comics, accompanied 160 high school students from Compiègne and students from UTC and ESAD in Amiens for a day dedicated to the profession of screenwriting and writing. Created in 2023 and “rolled out”, so to speak, at the University La Rochelle and CY Cergy Paris University, the Screenwriting Campus aims to raise awareness among high school and university students about the screenwriting profession through masterclasses and writing workshops led by professionals. Since 2023, it has brought together more than 400 students and high school pupils with 23 screenwriters.

Butterfly 2050, the driving force behind the Campus du Scénario at UTC

“The Screenwriting Campus is an initiative of the European Screenwriters’ City, directed by Pauline Rocafull and organised jointly with the UTC’s Design Department. This amazingly successful “Day” is one of the outcomes of the Butterfly 2050 project, 2024 edition, an initiative of the General Secretariat for Investment (SGPI), which invited 40 students to participate in discussions about the future by working in teams to create prospective scenarios. A forward-looking scenario competition was therefore organised by the SGPI, the General Secretariat for Investment, on the initiative of Bruno Bonell, Secretary General, and led by Nathalie Becoulet, training advisor. Prof. Claire ROSSI, President of UTC, immediately agreed when we proposed this day in September 2024,” says Emmanuel Corbasson, lecturer and research scientist in the Mechanical Engineering Department and head of the Industrial Design Engineering programme.

Representing the world of series was Alpha Diallo, screenwriter on the series En place.
