Omar Elloumi, the footballer-cum-computer scientist conquering the West

Omar Elloumi, 23, has just completed his studies majoring in computer science at Compiegne. Three fruitful years during which he created My Match, a mobile application dedicated to amateur football players, and most recently Cluvo, the first artificial intelligence-based start-up that helps budding entrepreneurs to understand and leverage every customer conversation to build a product that truly responds to the market.
Omar Elloumi is ending 2025 on a high note. He has just completed his studies at UTC and his work-study programme at LexisNexis France, securing a permanent contract as a Data Scientist III. In early November, he also received the Prix Pépite Île de France award, organised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in partnership with Bpifrance. This award is aimed at student entrepreneurs and recent graduates from the Sorbonne University Cluster who have launched an innovative business creation project. “I actually completed a double degree in entrepreneurship with Sorbonne University. It’s called the Student-Entrepreneur Diploma (D2E). It entailed a year of evening classes. I have also just returned from a bootcamp in San Francisco in the United States, where I was able to deepen my skills in entrepreneurship and technological product development, while working on concrete projects with local start-ups. This experience allowed me to develop a more international approach, focused on rapid innovation and bringing high-impact solutions to market. Then I went to Porto, Portugal to represent UTC-Compiegne as part of a team in a major entrepreneurship competition among 400 students from around the world. Our team won with the Cluvo project, a new start-up designed to help entrepreneurs validate their ideas with the support of AI (artificial intelligence). The prize is a place in a three-month accelerator programme in Silicon Valley,” says Omar Elloumi, who is not forgetting to grow his other business. MyMatch is an application that makes it easy to book pitches, organise matches and track your performance through statistics, rankings and badges to earn.
MyMatch is growing
The app now has more than 7 000 users and 60 partner pitches. It offers players the opportunity to join matches that are short of participants or to register for competitions. For pitch managers, MyMatch simplifies booking management with an interactive dashboard and detailed statistics on the use of their facilities. “We organised our first tournament in Tunisia on 25 November. I am an amateur player myself in an environment heavily influenced by football. My father was a professional footballer and everyone around me played football, so our conversations constantly revolved around matches and famous players. After moving to a new city, I found it difficult to find players to organise matches and book pitches. It was from this experience that I began to think about a simple and effective solution for football enthusiasts. I quickly realised that many others shared these same difficulties: getting enough players together, managing pitch bookings and maintaining a social dynamic around football,” explains Omar Elloumi, who continues to raise funds to support the technical development of the app, finance marketing and pursue its international expansion.
‘I feel like a full-time entrepreneur’
The app is currently available in Tunisia and will soon be available in France. The goal is to make the app available on several continents, while adapting its features to local specificities (languages, payment systems, etc.). “The UTC’s Elite Entrepreneurship programme has enabled MyMatch to take shape. It acts as a catalyst for its development. We have access to experienced mentors who help us refine our vision, strategy and business model. It also allows us to benefit from practical advice on marketing, project management and product development,‘ adds the footballer, computer scientist and entrepreneur, keen to pay tribute to his father through MyMatch. ’At the age of 16, I had an average school grade of 8. I dreamed of becoming a professional footballer like my father, who wanted me to study. I regret that he wasn’t able to see this happen because he has since passed away. But I’m doing it for my mother today. Since then, I’ve been top of my class in Tunisia, then valedictorian of my class in Computer Science at Metz, and today I’m graduating with an engineering degree from UTC. I love everything I do today. I’m passionate about what I do, and I especially love building something from scratch every moment of my life, in the evenings, on weekends, during holidays. I love offering something useful to people. I feel like a full-time entrepreneur. I will always be deeply grateful to my family, my mother, my brothers, my mentors and my teachers, who believed in me and supported me every step of the way. Their trust and love have been my greatest strength.
